This wine is a superb ruby-red color with purplish highlights. The wonderfully subtle aromas followed by black and red berry fruit, leading into terroir of cocoa, coffee and leather. The initial softness on the palate gradually evolves to reveal the tannic backbone. The 2010 Chateau Haut Brion is so ideally well-balanced, it verges on perfection.
Château Haut-Brion is a prestigious 1st Growth (Premier Grand Cru Classé) Bordeaux wine estate located in Pessac-Léognan, just outside the city of Bordeaux, France
. Famous for its unique, complex red wines (typically a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc), it is the only Graves estate included in the 1855 Classification.A firm and serious wine, complex and complicated, one of the finest wines from 2010 vintage. It has a rich undertow of black fruits, while the tannins dominate at this stage. To add to the powerful range of flavors, the wine has an edge of severity that bodes well for its long-term future. - 98 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
Good full ruby-red. Complex, expressive, very showy aromas and flavors of cassis, menthol, smoke and tobacco complemented by violet, milk chocolate and sweet spices. Fat, sweet and concentrated in the mouth, with an almost liqueur-like ripeness to its highly concentrated, palate-saturating flavors. Finishes ripe and savory, with huge but plush tannins and lingering notes of blueberry and minerals. - 98 points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
